Greater design flexibility
To remain relevant, the network infrastructure must be flexible and responsive. With multiple connector options, three high-density panel sizes, plus interchangeable modules, adapters and fiber assemblies, Propel maximizes design flexibility, deployment speed and ROI.
Multimode and singlemode
The more complex and costly your fiber deployment, the more it eats into your ROI. Propel keeps deployment quick and simple with one-person installation, front and rear panel access, preterminated cable assemblies and interchangeable modules.
Front and rear installation
As more data centers plan their migration to 400G and 800G, demand for 16f connectivity increases. Propel is the first end-to-end fiber platform to support 16f MPO connections —switch-to-switch and switch-to-server—regardless of your MPO modularity.

Higher fiber density
Today’s mesh-type architectures demand more fiber density, especially in the access layers. With panels that suppport 144 SN connectors or 72 MPOs per RU and a smaller footprint, Propel packs more capacity and performance into a smaller space.
SN: double duplex density
The less time spent making moves, adds and changes the more efficient your Day 2 operations. Propel features front and rear panel access, simplified cable management, interchangeable modules and preterminated assemblies. So, you can better manage your MACs and your people while reducing errors.
Performance isn’t measured in lane speed alone. It includes ultra low-loss optics, reliability and peace of mind. CommScope engineered Propel to ensure ultra low-loss performance for your most demanding applications, and we back it up with comprehensive application assurance.
Ultra Low-Loss solution
Precision-polished APC connectors
With more components in the channel path, maintaining correct polarity becomes more of an issue. Propel’s Method B Enhanced polarity significantly reduces the chances of improper mating for faster deployment, fewer mistakes and better operational efficiency.

Propel delivers:
Propel’s high-density, modular design supports 72-duplex LCs per RU, helping you monetize more square meters of white space. Highly scalable, it’s also the ideal complement to more-dense, next-gen switching radix solutions.
LC Density Per RU MPO Density Per RU VSFF Density Per RU
144F/72 Duplex 72x8, 72x16, 72x24 288F
Flexible blade design
Each Propel blade features 12 slots that can be populated with different combinations of module sizes and interfaces. The result is higher density with more design options. A unique slide-out design allows one-person installation/manag-ement. With three blades per RU, Propel also supports easier scaling.
All Propel modules are modular and interchangeable, including those on the same blade, for more design freedom, better scaling and greater efficiency. Adding and changing modules takes just seconds, so you can quickly and easily upgrade to new formats and reuse the replaced elements elsewhere.
Front and rear panel access
All modules can be accessed from the front or rear of the rack, making installation and upgrades faster, easier and less costly. We designed Propel to adapt to your DC environment—not the other way around.
Multimode and singlemode support
Propel’s diverse capabilities mirror the design complexities of today’s DCs, including the use of both multimode and singlemode. Propel supports OM4/OM5 multimode as well as singlemode, providing more design options for legacy applications and 400G/800G migration. As a technology-agnostic platform, Propel enables you to create a best-fit solution for multiple protocols and MSAs.
Wide-ranging connector options
Adaptability and flexibility are key in today’s DCs. Propel delivers with a comprehensive range of connectors—duplex LC, SN and 8-, 12-, 16- and 24-fiber MPOs—for easier scaling and multiple design options. It also supports future higher-speed applications when you’re ready. One platform, multiple migration cycles and all the configurations you need. Propel isn’t just smart; it’s sustainable.

High-density SN VSFF
As switching speeds and fiber deplyments rise, DCs need higher densities in a smaller footprint. The SN VSFF connector provides up to 2x the density compared to traditional LC connectors. Propel takes that advantage a step further with superior panel, blade and module design that enables you to maintain manageability. Now, you can enable future-ready, fiber-hungry applications. No problem.
Propel’s true 16-fiber and 8-fiber application-based modules ensure you don’t strand fiber capacity at the port. All OM4, OM5 and SM MPO-8 trunks use 8-fiber 2mm subunits and all MPO-16 trunks have 16-fiber 3mm subunits. The result? A more efficient use of all your active fibers.
Fiber-efficient MPO16 migration
Propel is the first DC fiber platform designed around 16-fiber MPO technology. As data centers move to octal deployments, 16-fiber connectivity enables 100% use of all deployed fibers. This is not always the case with MPO-12 and MPO-24. By eliminating stranded capacity, Propel optimizes density while maintaining high performance. The result is highly efficient migration to 400G, 800G and 1.6T.
A range of interchangeable components
At the heart of Propel’s design is the agility to distribute increased switch capacity more efficiently and creatively. A range of modules, cassettes and adapters—8LC, 12LC, 16LC, 24LC—provide the configuration flexibility to best satisfy the needs of the DC environment (with splice cassettes available in the near future). Because all components are interchangeable, they can be mixed and matched on any blade, making upgrades and modications faster and easier.
Simplified cable management
Propel panels offer built-in rear cable management to accommodate a variety of cable types and sizes. Cable clips, provided with all MPO trunk assemblies, install quickly and secure the fibers to prevent service disruption when accessing adjacent fibers. The shorter, 22-inch breakouts are designed to match the reduced-depth panels and minimize slack.

Internal translucent shutters
LC and MPO components feature internal translucent shutters that improve dust protection, eliminate unreliable dust plugs and enable safe use of visual fault locators (VFL). The shutters are carefully designed to prevent contact with connector ferrules— further protecting connectivity.
Method B Enhanced polarity
With Propel, maintaining fiber polarity is simple and straightforward. The entire platfotrm is designed using Method B Enhanced. Every module, cassette, adapter and fanout cable is keyed to ensure proper polarity every time. Method B Enhanced polarity supports multimode and singlemode applications without having to flip modules or worry about which cables and components to use.
